The students of the College of Business Administration, majoring in Marketing at Umm Al-Qura University, conducted a campaign to raise awareness of the privacy of photography. The campaign came as a project for the Social Marketing course, with the title, “One Hundred and Eight Awareness Campaign on Photography Privacy”. It aimed at sensitizing society to the need to abide by the rules of photography and its privacy, and the respect for the rights of others, given that photography is a double-edged tool.
The students created a link on selected groups in order to identify those affected by unwarranted photography. Many students have interacted with the issue at hand.
The course professor Aishah Al-Zubaidi stated that the goal of these projects and campaigns is to put theoretical knowledge into practice, which reflects on the students' education, and also increase the students' knowledge and help them learn modern methods in education.
She stated that the campaign earned great interaction and popularity among university students during its four-day course. The team received many positive reactions in the university environment; on the campaign Twitter account, the number of viewers of the campaign page exceeded 200 students from the colleges of Business Administration and Community. This is indicative of the awareness of individuals, and that awareness can make a difference, if used correctly.
It is noteworthy that the campaign was also presented by Dr. Amal Abul-Ela, and witnessed the participation of students: Sarah Zidani, Shaza Al-Qasimi, Suha Al-Matrafi, Linda Al-Matrafi, Sharifah Hakami, Ghuday Majlad, Renad Faqih, Amal Abu Al-Qasim, Haneen Bahakim, Sabah Khafaji, and Ahlam Qutb.
This project, which aims at introducing the UQU student bylaws as well as student rights and duties, is considered a part of the campaign organized by the Vice Deanship of University Studies for Female Students in Rea Zhakhir under the title: ‘Flash 108’. The campaign was held in the presence of the Vice Dean of University Studies for Female Students, Prof. Salwa Al-Mahmadi, and the Vice Dean of the College of Business Administration, Dr. Hawazin Al-Zubaidi, under the supervision of Dr. Ensaf Bukhari, and with the participation of the college’s female academic staff and students.
