On Monday, Rabi’ al-awwal 20, 1438H, The Chancellor of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and Prince of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, HRH Prince Khaled Al-Faisal inaugurated the buildings of Al-Jamoum campus for boys and girls, on the sidelines of his visit to Al-Jamoum governorate and his inauguration of a set of development projects that worth about 3.4 billion SAR. In attendance were the UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas and the directors of the government agencies in Al-Jamoum.
On his part, HRH Prince Khaled Al-Faisal stressed that listening to the demands of the citizens and their participation in the future plan of the development of governorates are of the most important goals of the inspection visits.
In addition, after visiting Al-Bahrah and Al-Jamoum governorates, HRH stated, “during my visits to the governorates few years ago, the majority of the projects were stalled, some were under implementation and only few were accomplished.” And he added, “However, during my recent visits over the last years, most of the projects are accomplished, some are under implementation and only few are stalled.” And he continued, “In my inspection visit today to Al-Bahrah and Al-Jamoum governorates, we approved projects that are worth 3.4 billion SAR; many of which are implemented, and the rest are under implementation.”
Moreover, HRH Prince Khaled Al-Faisal denoted that his visit to the two governorates last year has resulted in number of development projects in different sectors. Also, he said, “the high level of discussion, culture and thought that is prevailing in this region warms everyone’s heart, on top of whom the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques- Allah protect him.”
In addition, he continued, “Paying attention to the human before the place has been fruitful in this region which is considered a sample for the rest of the Saudi regions because of its religious, cultural and social status.” He also added, “This didn’t come out of the blue, but as a result of the established security, stability and the wise policy of the Kingdom.”
Over and above, the Prince mentioned that a committee has been formed from the Council of the region and the people of the governorate to study the projects, develop strategic plans and programs for them and follow up on their implementation.”
Furthermore, he added, “The projects in Bahrah are currently being implemented as planned by the Council of the region, the officials and the citizens who contributed with their opinions and suggestions.” Besides, HRH Prince Khaled Al-Faisal stressed that the Kingdom adopts a new policy that serves the future plans in the region and confirms the beginning of new thought and approach that are free of complexity.”
Furthermore, he denoted that the Kingdom’s vision 2030 was developed to coup with what should be offered away from complexity, and he added that there should be flexibility in the implementation process to ensure the continuity of the development wheel, and that the implementation flexibility will be the norm starting from this moment. The Prince also stressed on the importance of putting into consideration the participation of the citizens with their opinions in the future vision.
Besides, HRH Prince Khaled Al-Faisal confirmed the eagerness of the Kingdom to enhance the level of education and culture, and provide a decent standard of living for each citizen. And he stated, “During my inspection tours, I listen to the demands of the citizens directly without any kind of mediation from anyone.”
And he continued, “Today, we launch a number of accomplished projects, and follow up on the other projects that are under implementation. Also, there are new demands for other projects that are to be reviewed by a committee formed of the emirate, the Authority for the Development of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, the Council of the region, and the people, to develop implementation plans for these projects.”
Eventually, HRH Prince Khaled Al-Faisal assured that creating any new governorate in the region is based on studies and certain specifications developed by the Ministry of Interior.
On his part, the UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, praised the visit of HRH Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, and the inauguration of many development projects that will contribute to serving the people of the area. And he added that among these projects is the project of the buildings of Al-Jamoum’s campus for girls and boys.
Besides, Dr. Assas explained that this project includes boys’ buildings which are 13K square meters; with a capacity of 4,000 students. And he continued that the buildings include 88 classrooms, 16 laboratories, 2 medical clinics, 22 computer laboratories, 58 administrative offices, 1 cafeteria, 1 meeting hall, and other service facilities. On the other hand, Dr. Assas explained that the girls’ buildings are 8,700 square meters; with a capacity of 3,000 students.
And he also explained that the buildings include 21 classrooms, 10 computer laboratories, 8 physics, chemistry and biology laboratories, educational studio, mosque, medical clinic, cafeteria, theatre, administrative offices, meetings hall, along with the new annex that will be linked to the new buildings.
Over and above, Dr. Assas confirmed that the college will open new programs to coup with the needs of the job market, among which there will be a bachelor of Information Systems, and he denoted that the University College in Al-Jamoum has obtained the International American Accreditation for programs (ABET) through its Computer Sciences program.
Lastly, Dr. Assas praised the efforts of the Dean of the University College in Al-Jamoum, Dr. Faisal Baghdadi, and all college members and staff.
