Today, Tuesday, the activities of the final celebrations of the tenth stage of the Iqra' and Ijazah program started at Umm Al-Qura University headquarters in Makkah Al-Mukarramah. This program is supervised by the Makkah branch of the Tibian Society. These activities took place in honor of Her Excellency, Dr. Sarah bint Omar Al-Khuli, the Vice President of Umm Al-Qura University for Female Student Affairs, in the presence of Her Excellency the Dean of University Studies for Girls, Dr. Halah Al-Amoudi. The ceremony celebrated the success of 18 persons who received Ijazah certificates in this program. The number of Ijazah holders in different modes of recitation has reached 93 people since the beginning of the program.
Iqra' and Ijazah is a specialized program concerned with correcting the recitation of the Glorious Qur'an, and granting a certificate with a connected chain of transmitters to the Prophet (peace be upon him) with Mutawatir modes of recitation for those meeting the conditions stipulated for learning and teaching. This falls within the framework of spreading Ijazah certificates in Mutwatir Qur'anic modes of recitations among the memorizers of the Qur'an, and giving an Ijazah to those who desire to learn it.
In this context, Dr. Sarah bint Omar Al-Khuli, the Vice President of the University for Female Student Affairs, pointed out that the best science is learning the book of Allah, and continuing to memorize, learn and read it, considering it to be a great virtue and a truly profitable transaction. In learning the book of Allah, the person should be very determined and precious times should be spent to become closer to the Lord of the Worlds.
Dr. Sarah expressed her thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, due to his continuous support. She also praised the efforts undertaken by the head of the subsidiary committee of the Saudi Scientific Society for Qur'an and its Sciences, Dr. Ahmad Al-Harisi. Moreover, she thanked the head of the subsidiary committee of the Saudi Scientific Society, Dr. Mariam Abu Ali, for her efforts in the female branch of the Saudi Society at Umm Al-Qura University.
On her part, the Dean of University Studies for Girls, Dr. Halah Al-Amoudi, expressed her pride in Umm Al-Qura University being the headquarters of the Iqra' and Ijazah program. She stressed that this project serves the Glorious Qur'an, and that witnessing the conclusion of the tenth stage brings relief and delight to the hearts. She added that they have noticed the remarkable advancement in the outcomes of the program in each stage, especially with the increase in the number of female holders of recitation certificates whom Allah (Exalted and Glorified be He) honored by enabling them to memorize His book, and to whom He granted great bounty by placing them within the blessed chain of transmitters that reach the best of His creation, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
In turn, the Deputy Head of the Tibian Society Branch in Makkah, Dr. Amirah Al-Sa`idi, pointed out that the Iqra' and Ijazah program aims at providing a communicative environment among academic reciters from Umm Al-Qura University and other universities, coordinating between those who desire to obtain an Ijazah certificate in a certain mode of recitation, reviving the desire to be placed in a recitation chain of transmission among knowledge seekers, reviving the wish to obtain Ijazah certificates among memorizers of the Glorious Qur'an, endeavoring to obtain an Ijazah, acquiring Ijazah in a record period of time, and preparing a distinguished group of students who are qualified to teach others.
The Supervisor of the Iqra' and Ijazah program, Ms. Fatimah Sheikh, expressed her deep thanks to the female holders of Ijazah certificates in the tenth stage, after they were able to completely memorize the Glorious Qur'an with its different modes of recitation with a connected chain of transmitters to the Prophet (peace be upon him). She also expressed her thanks to the Head of the Tibian Society, Dr. Mariam Abu Ali, Ghufran Al-Bunian, and all those who contributed in rendering successful the Iqra' and Ijazah program.
The Iqra' and Ijazah program was launched in 1432 A.H., while the website was launched in 1433 A.H. The program has held several courses and many meetings that included more than 15 local and international exhibitions. More than 235 reciters and 539 Ijazah holders have graduated from this program.
