The Deanship of Admission and Registration at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) in cooperation with the Committee of Deans of Admission and Registration at GCC Universities and Higher Education Institutions have organized this year's meeting and issued a set of recommendations.
The final meeting recommendations included using portable devices technologies in the admission and registration processes and keeping up to date with the developments in the committee's five-year plan up to 2020 and the decentralization of the automatic conversion in the implementation of admission and registration processes.
The meeting called also for finding accredited standards for the academic mentor system, considering the reconstruction of Admission and Registration Deanships and paying attention for the setting descriptions for the tasks and services assigned for the deanships.
Prof. Ali Huwaishal Al-Shuaili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administrative and Financial Affairs, delivered the opening speech.
"In light of the GCC intra-cooperation efforts and out of our belief in the key role played by the admission and registration deanships at GCC universities and higher education institutions, the meeting was organized as we're looking forward for issuing recommendations for enhancing GCC's joint work by exchange of experience on the programs set for the admission and study plans," he said.
A working paper was presented by Dr. Abdul Majeed al-Ghamdi on the experience of Umm Al Qura University in automatic transformation from the centralization to authority delegation.
The meeting also reviewed the recommendations and proposals of the 14th meeting of the committee held at King Abdul Aziz University in Riyadh and a follow up report of their implementation. It discussed latest updates on the five-year plan of the committee for the coming period up to 2020 and its website.
