The event was attended by vice presidents of the university, and deans of colleges and supportive deanships.
His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Bafail, praised the wise leadership's support of the educational and research environment, which contributed in preparing the appropriate atmosphere for student activities. This helped greatly in developing the cognitive skills in parallel with the academic programs that the students receive during their university stage.
He added that the students are considered to be the pivot of the educational process, and thus all university potentials and services should be dedicated to them in order to make the university an attractive environment for them. The Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Amr Al-Saqqaf, said, "A great number of excellent students are members in the student clubs, and are good representatives of the university in external forums. The last of these forums, in which they showed outstanding distinction on the level of the universities in Makkah province, was the "Transformation Leaders" Program that was organized by the Youth Leadership Community (YLC). This program aimed at building leaders from among the male and female youth. It was the first scientific program that qualifies university students in a way that is in line with the programs and initiatives of the vision 2030 and the goals of sustainable development, which are officially known as the "International Goals". They are 17 goals that were fashioned by the United Nations. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as a founding member, played an active role in forming these goals.
The "Transformation Leaders" Program aimed at exploring the way of discovering unused potentials, adding the value through the profession, linking participants with concerned bodies in their field of specialization, and keeping any profession in line with the initiatives and programs of the vision 2030.
The Deanship of Student Affairs announced the names of the winners in the UQU Role Model Contest (Season 3). The idea of the contest is in line with the comprehensive vision of the Makkah Region that is adopted by His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and the Emir of Makkah Region. The vision is represented by the strategy of "Human Building and Place Development", under the slogan of "How to be a role model?" to promote it and achieve its goals. It also falls within the activities of the Makkah Cultural Forum in choosing a male and a female student who have the characteristics and who achieved accomplishments that make them role models for other university students. The ceremony also witnessed the launching of the university anthem. Moreover, an operetta for the event, and a play, which was produced and carried out by members of the student clubs, were presented.
