The College of Applied Sciences participated in the 5th conference of the German Accreditation Agency (ASIIN) which was held in cooperation with the European Association for Accreditation (EAPSA) and with the support of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE). The conference was held under the title, 'The dawning of a new era of Higher Education quality assurance: What can we expect from the future?' It was held from December 10 to 11, 2018 A.C., in Berlin to highlight the latest developments in the field of international accreditation of universities and institutions of higher education.

His Excellency Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Hashimi, Vice-Dean of the College of Applied Sciences for Development and Community Service, His Excellency Dr. Husayn bin Hasan Abu Al-Rish, Vice-Dean of the College of Applied Sciences for Educational Affairs, several representatives of Saudi and international Universities, and the institutions and bodies concerned with international accreditation participated in the conference.

The new tools developed and implemented to measure the impact of internal and external academic accreditation were discussed in this conference. It also touched on better ways to deal with the issue of measuring learning outcomes in higher education, in addition to the numerous workshops that were held on the sidelines of the conference.

Moreover, the Dean of the College of Applied Sciences, Dr. Hatim bin Muhammad Al-Tas, praised the great support and attention of His Excellence Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, the President of Umm Al-Qura University, toward the College, which is represented in the participation of such conferences and workshops that contribute in promoting quality and accreditation for colleges, and also the presence of the University in international forums. Furthermore, he praised the work, efforts, and continuous follow-up of the Vice-President of Umm Al-Qura University for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani bin Othman Ghazi, which aim at developing national capabilities to enable the University colleges to obtain national and international accreditation.
