Dr. Sarah bint Omar Al-Khuly, UQU Vice President for Female Student Affairs, attended the ceremony of the Umm Al-Qura University Award for E-Learning that was sponsored by His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, President of Umm Al-Qura University, and organized by the Vice-Presidency of the University for Educational Affairs, represented by the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education. The ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. Hala bint Saeed Al-Amoudy, the Dean of University Studies, on Sunday, 10 Rabi` Al-Awwal 1440 A.H., corresponding to 18 November, 2018 A.C., at 1:30 p.m., in King Abdul Aziz Historical Hall for the male section, and the Support Hall (2) for the female section.
The visitors were well received by Dr. Hana' Abdul-Rahim Yamani, the Vice Dean of E-Learning and Distance Education. The ceremony began with a visual presentation on the Umm Al-Qura University Award for E-Learning, introducing its objectives and different sections. Then the faculty members and colleges that most frequently use the e-Learning System were honored.
It is worth noting that more than 55,000 students use the e-Learning System, and that there are more than 35,000 electronic courses. During the past two academic years, the Deanship of E-Learning has carried out approximately 4,800 electronic tests, approximately 135,000 digital files have been uploaded to the system, and more than 5,000 virtual classrooms have been used.
In the same regard, the new electronic learning system, the Blackboard System, was launched. This system contributes to the educational environment through the use of the latest technological tools in the e-Learning process that seeks to serve the University community.
