The University of Umm Al-Qura (UQU) represented by the Deanship of Students Affairs will organize the Promising Start Forum for the new male and female students of the university in all specialties and preparatory tracks for three days starting from Monday Dhul-Hijjah 18, 1437 H at King Saud Auditorium, in Al-Abdiyah Campus. The Forum will be attended by the UQU President Dr. Bakri Assas and will witness participation of the different departments of the university.
Meanwhile, the Dean of Students Affairs Dr. Taha bin Amro Al-Saggaf said the forum will be organized for the second year following its success in the last year under its then slogan of "Different Start". He added that the forum will last for three days and will be divided based on the colleges and academic tracks to have 2.000 male and female students each in two periods from 8:30 AM up to 2:30 PM for male students and from 4:00 PM up to 10:00 PM for female student.
The forum is aimed at preparing new students to have an integrated vision about the services provided to them by the university and the deanship of students affairs represented by the students clubs designed to hone skills and classroom activities of the students. The students will also learn about other departments of the university such as the Deanship of Library Affairs, the University Medical Center, the English Language Center, and other departments required by the student.
He added that the forum is aimed at introducing male and female students to their rights and duties in the university, informing them about the services and programs provided by the university and the deanship of students affairs through its students clubs and also informing them about the role undertaken by the different deanships and departments of the university. He added that the deanship seeks through this forum to achieve excellence in the services provided for students and to bring about its permanent slogan of "Student First".
He went on to add that the student is an important element in the education process of the university, for this reason services provided for him have been improved and the stimulating environment has been prepared. He extended his thanks to the UQU President Dr. Bakri Assas for his support and motivation and to the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs Dr. Abdul-Aziz bin Rashad Sorouji, the Deanship vice deans, Dr. Talal bin Mothan, Dr. Saeed Halwani, Dr. Dr. Omar Ba-Sonbol and Dr. Hamdan Al-Harbi and all the staff of the deanship for the efforts exerted in the preparation of this forum.
For his part, the Vice Dean for Guidance, Mentoring and Community Partnership Dr. Saeed bin Hashem Halawani, said the activities of the forum will be accompanied by a visual presentation about the deanship, and immediate gifts draws for students. Additionally he said a place will prepared for students to take memorial photos, and introductory and qualifying courses will be organized for students besides as well as an introductory exhibition about the kingdom vision 2030 in the education objectives part. He add that students are going to receive their university cards in the forum and then a tour will be organized for them to learn about the different departments and colleges of the university.
Within the same vein, the Dean of Students Support, Dr. Omar Ba-Sonbol said the student's guide application will be showcased in the forum to explain the different services provided for the students by the deanship and other departments of the university.
