UQU President Visits Engineering College and Computer Science College in Al-Qunfudhah

His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), paid an inspection visit to the College of Engineering and the College of Computer Science for both the male and female sections. He was received by Dr. Alawi Bamahdi and Dr. Abdullah Al-Zahrani, vice deans of the two colleges; Dr. Muhammad Al Mojamed and Engineer Ibraheem Al Morayya, vice deans for educational affairs; Dr. Obaid Al-Hadreeti, training vice dean at the College of Engineering; the department heads; Mr. Mahdi Kulaibi, administrative director of both colleges; and a number of administrative officers and employees.  

Through his tour, UQU President inspected the laboratories of the College of Engineering and the College of Computer Science; learned about the needs of the two colleges; and listened to the demands of some employees from both colleges. In this tour of inspection, he was accompanied by Prof. Abdul-Aziz bin Rashad Serouji, UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs; Dr. Abdul-Majeed bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, UQU Vice President for Branches; Dr. Muhammad bin Wasel Al-Hazmi, Advisor to UQU President and General Supervisor of the Projects Department; Dr. Yaseen Al-Zubaidi, Dean of Al-Qunfudhah University College; and the officials of the relevant entities at UQU.  

The tour, which UQU President made to inspect the branches of UQU in Al-Qunfudhah, involved the main building of the University College; the extension buildings of the University College; the College of Engineering and the College of Computer Science; the College of Medical Sciences; the female extension at the University College; the College of Medicine; and the female section buildings at the College of Computer Science and the Deanship of Preparatory Year. 

Prof. Bafail, UQU President, revealed that the buildings urgently needed at Al-Qunfudhah University College are in the process of tendering and awarding to a contractor, and that they will be made available to the male and female students by the start of the second semester of the academic year 1439/1440 AH. This was as he stood over the land allocated to the new project of the urgently needed buildings. He also confirmed that a series of workshops had been held in the design phase in order to examine the College’s need of laboratories; classrooms; administrative offices; and supporting services. He pointed out that the buildings of those urgent projects are going to be on an allocated land with an area of about 160,000 square meters.  

For his turn, Dr. Muhammad bin Wasel Al-Hazmi, Advisor to UQU President and General Supervisor of the Projects Department, stated that the project of the urgently needed buildings at the UQU branch in Al-Qunfudhah consists of buildings devoted to the University College for male and female students. He explained that the project of the urgently needed buildings in Al-Qunfudhah has the capacity to accommodate more than 2,000 students. Dr. Al-Hazmi clarified that the project is being implemented on the land allocated for UQU along the College of Medicine north of Al-Qunfudhah Province, over an area of 16,000 square meters. He also praised the support and directives of Prof. Bafail, UQU President, which would accelerate the completion of the urgently needed buildings of Al-Qunfudhah University College.  

In this connection, UQU President met, through his visit to Al-Qunfudhah Province, with His Excellency Mr. Fadha Al-Buqami, Governor of Al-Qunfudhah, at Mr. Al-Buqami’s office in Al-Qunfudhah.
