Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Bafeel, President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), honored the participants in the awareness campaign on the protection from scabies (Prevention, Safety and Control of Epidemics) that was carried out by the Consulting Research and Studies Institute in association with the Unit of Training and Continuing Medical Education, the medical colleges and the Preparatory Year Deanship, in a number of locations in and out of the university. The participants were honored at the meeting room of his office in the University City of Al-Abediya.
At the beginning, Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Sharie, dean of the Consulting Research and Studies Institute, said that “When Dr. Abdullah Bafeel launched the campaign, the institute’s employees, participants from the medical colleges and the Preparatory Year Deanship has to develop an action plan to implement the safety procedures and protection from scabies in some public schools and districts in Makkah to achieve the health safety in the areas surrounding UQU, in light of the community participation.”
He pointed out that many field visits and examinations have been conducted, in addition to providing voluntary awareness services inside and out of the university. The campaign, he added, achieved its goals through raising the awareness of scabies disease among adults and children, spreading the therapeutic and preventive directives to preserve the physical and psychological integrity of the members of Makkah community, and achieving the principle of social responsibility through the voluntary provision of awareness and educational services.
Dr. Ali Al-Sharie added that “The awareness campaign was presented in 5 languages benefiting more than 23,000 persons from its educational and awareness services; appreciating the support and guidance of Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Bafeel that contributed to the success of the campaign activities at a high level of professionalism.”
In turn, Dr. Abdullah praised the support of the wise leadership – May Allah support it- that contributed to the university's mission and community participation with its community through the specific programs it provides to the community, including awareness and training ones along with the consulting aspects. He, also, referred to the support of Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Issa, for the programs and activities offered by the University.
UQU President lauded the efforts of all the campaign participants; emphasizing that everyone in the university must work as a team. He pointed out that the success is achieved through solidarity and work in a single spirit; adding that the success of this campaign is due to the solidarity and work of all participants in the campaign from the Consulting Research and Studies Institute, the medical colleges and the Preparatory Year Deanship. He wished them success and promotion in all the University's programs to achieve the aspiration of the members of society and to contribute to the service of their homeland.
