President of Umm Al-Qura University Professor Abdullah Omar Bafail has checked on projects of Umm Al-Qura Oasis for Consultation, one of the affiliates of the Consulting Research and Studies Institute, in the presence of the Institute's Dean Dr. Ali bin Mohamed Al-Shaari, Institute Vice Deans and the Deans of the relevant colleges. the inspection took place at the permanent exhibition of the Oasis in the university campus in Abdyia.
Upon his arrival to the Oasis Exhibition, the UQU President listened to an elaborate presentation by the Dean of the Consulting Research and Studies Institute Dr. Ali Al-Shaari who explained that the Institute has established Umm Al-Qura Consultation Oasis to be the knowledge and technological arm of the university; aiming at building knowledge-based economy and sustainable development in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030. He noted that the Institute has adopted new vision through the planning and preparation to establish a number of specialized centers and units to become national references with a global reputation in the field of technology and knowledge production, localization and transfer, in addition to providing consultancy services and professional training for public and private sectors and the community.
He explained that the Oasis will include in the first phase two centers and five units which are the fruits of two years of continued work to develop the Oasis to become the incubator, knowledge and technology arm of Umm Al-Qura University and assume its effective role in developing the knowledge-based economy, community, and the sustainable development. He added that the project of Umm Al-Qura Consultation Oasis will see light at the beginning of the coming academic year 1439/1440 H in the Abdyia-based university campus and will include; training halls, simulation of the Risk and Crisis Management Center (SAFE), Unit of Continuing Medical Education and the headquarters of the Consulting Research and Studies Institute which will become the window of the university to the local and regional communities by providing consultancy services and projects using academic expertise.
He went on to add that awareness programs will be presented using modern and interactive technologies in the fields of training and medical and engineering qualification by such mean of consolidating the idea of methods adopted in the engineering and medical facilities stressing that a high efficiency and quality training system will be provided at Umm Al-Qura Oasis for Consultations.
For his part, the UQU President Professor Abdullah Bafail expressed admiration for the quality programs he checked on. "These programs will contribute to serving the community and the public and private sectors in the consultancy and training fields in line with the National Transformation Plan 2020 and the Kingdom Vision 2030", he expounded, praising the support attached by the wise leadership to the educational and academic process to help provide high quality programs consistent with requirements of the labor market. He also lauded the support of the Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Issa provided for all the programs and activities of the university.
After that, the UQU President checked on details of the urgent buildings projects at the university branch in Al-Qunfudhah which will be carried out and overseen by the Consulting Research and Studies Institute including; designing and implementation of four buildings for male students and two buildings for female students to become the headquarters of the health college, the university college, and engineering and computer colleges which include study halls, labs, administrative offices and supportive services. The project will be carried out using cold-formed steel within the area proposed for each building in line with the requirements of the educational environment according to the highest standards and specifications. The total capacity of these buildings is 16 thousand male and female students and will be prepared by the beginning of the coming academic year 1439/1440 H.
Wrapping up his visit, Professor Bafail checked on the educational and awareness programs of the "Prevention, Safety and Infection Control" campaign set to promote awareness about scabies. The campaign is carried out by the Consulting Research and Studies Institute represented by the Unit of Continuing Medical Education and the Risk and Crisis Management Center (SAFE) in collaboration with some medical colleges.
