The report on the achievements and partnerships of the Higher Institute for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice was handed to His Excellency Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, President of Umm Al-Qura University, by Dr. Yasser Al-Qahtani, Dean of the Institute. This was during Dr. Assas’s reception to Dr. Al-Qahtani at his office in the Abdeyyah-based university town.
Dr. Al-Qahtani explained that this report comes to shed light on a number of the Institute’s achievements and community partnerships in the past years. He clarified that such achievements and partnerships instilled the culture of hisbah (religious oversight over public welfare) and its high values that promote moderate ideology.
He also emphasized that the Institute is working on the development of its self-generated resources, whether human or material, through the programs it offers in accordance with the highest quality standards so they can conform to the standards of the Ministry of Education which are in line with the Saudi Vision 2030. And he pointed out that these programs and the environment stimulating the process of education and research were created only by God’s guidance to success followed by the support and directions of good leadership – may God keep it strong – commending Dr. Assas’s support to the Institute’s plans and programs which have been developed to be harmonious with the Saudi Vision 2030.
Dr. Al-Qahtani elucidated that the Institute seeks to become a leading reference in Islamic legal qualification and skills qualification to effectively contribute to increasing the efficiency of the workforce in Islamic legal administrations in the different government and private sectors. He noted that the programs the Institute offers include the “Certified Trainer of Islamic Legal Programs,” in addition to extended training courses in the aspects of preparing hisbah practitioners; hisbah and religious counseling; the strategies for developing affiliates of religious affairs in military sectors; the skills for dealing with those embracing extremist ideas; field leadership; the skills for dealing with pilgrims and visitors, besides other courses and programs.
In his turn, Dr. Assas commended the programs offered by the Higher Institute for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice; such programs are of a high quality that contributes to promoting the skills of beneficiaries. He further expressed his wishes for progress and prosperity to the Institute and its affiliates in light of the comprehensive educational revival witnessed by our blessed country in this flourishing era under the leadership of the guide of her blessed journey King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Highness the honest Crown Prince – may God protect them – and with their generous support to knowledge and education in this bountiful homeland in general and Umm Al-Qura University in particular.
