Under the sponsorship of Dean of Jamoum University College, vice deans, representatives of Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Water branch, stakeholders from Jamoum municipality, a group of colleagues in the college, and a number of students, the Department of Biology organized a course titled Integrated Pest Management.
On this occasion, the Head of the Department Dr. Sameer bin Hassan Qari welcomed the audience and briefed them on the course and its speakers. After that, the dean launched course works and accompanying workshop.
The key speaker of the course Dr. Ayman Al-Shahawi spoke about the method of the integrated pest control management and its recent concept and followed mechanism. After that Professor Ashraf Al-Badawy spoke about the types and uses of pesticides. He was followed by Prof. Kamal Attiah spoke about the effects of pesticides on the public health of human, methods of prevention and poisonousness diagnosis. Then Mr. Jamil Jabr spoke about pest collection and method of dealing with such a thing and techniques of insect preservation and mummification.
It should be mentioned here that the course included several training and tutorials. After that, a workshop was held on how to produce secure pests and provide training on chemical pesticides and insect preservation and mummification.
At the conclusion of the course, the Head of Biology Department extended thanks and appreciation to all participants and noted that attendance certificates will be sent via emails to participants.
