On Tuesday, June 1, 2016, under the auspices of the University Director, Dr Baqri ibn Ma’atuq Asa’as, the General Assembly for the Saudi Scientific Waqf Association held its first ceremony. The ceremony is meant for nominating and naming the Association board of directors.

The ceremony began with recitation out of the holy Quran. This is followed by a speech delivered by the Dean of the Judicial Studies and Systems College; and Head of the Founding Committee for the Saudi Scientific Waqf Association, Prof. Saud ibn Ibraheem Alshereem, during which he stressed on the importance of Waqf and how muslims pay attention to it over ages. He also touched upon the idea of establishing the association and Umm Al Qura University’s support for it. Then the attendance watched a documentary featuring the phases of establishing the association and its objectives in terms of serving the entities concerned with the Waqf (religious endowment). 

Afterwards, the draw of naming the Association board of directors kicked off. Then the Vice-deanship for Postgraduates Studies and Scientific Research and Head of the Committee of Vote Sorting announced the final result of the draw.

Concluding the ceremony, Dr Baqri honored the members of the Founding Committee for the Saudi Scientific Waqf Association.
