UQU President Signs Codicology Agreement

The UQU President, Dr. Bakri Matoq Assas, signed an agreement for codicology training of graduate studies students with Institute of Manuscripts and Revival of Islamic Heritage and Institute of Arabic Manuscripts in Cairo in partnership with the Institute of Research and Consultation Studies at his office in Abbideyah campus.

Assas reiterated that to serve Islamic culture, UQU attaches great importance to codicology and the thousand year old manuscripts it houses. Therefore, the Institute of Manuscripts and Revival of Islamic Heritage was established in line with Vision 2030, indicating that it will offer online training programs.

Further, he stated that UQU houses over 3 thousand original manuscripts and 200 thousand digital copies of manuscripts, which post-graduates can make use of in their research. He then commended the efforts of the dean of Institute of Manuscripts and Revival of Islamic Heritage, the dean of Institute of Research and Consultation Studies, and their task forces who contributed to investment of knowledge and serving Islamic culture.

On his part, the Dean of Institute of Manuscripts and Revival of Islamic Heritage, Dr. Adnan Al-Harthi, lauded the support and directives of the UQU president with regard to boosting knowledge and Islamic culture, noting that the agreement is to contribute to qualify codicology post-graduates as educational portfolios are being set up for codicology diplomas to revive Islamic heritage.

Within the same vein, the Dean of Institute of Research and Consultation Studies, Dr. Ali Al-Shaeri, stated that this collaboration aims to improve the performance of manuscript specialists through vocational training and activating partnership with domestic and international organizations to achieve thee UQU objectives in serving the homeland. He added that the agreement is for implementing specialized codicology training programs and courses.
