UQU President Chairs the First Meeting of the Supreme Committee of Projects

The UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Ma'touq Assas chaired the first meeting of the Supreme Committee of Projects at his office in Abbideyah Campus. The meeting was attended by the Vice-president, Dr. Yasser bin Soliman Shoushou, the Vice-president for Branches, Dr. Abdulmajeed bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, the Supervisor-general of Legal Department, Dr. Hamdan bin Darwesh Al-Ghamdi, and a number of services, facilities and project management officials in addition to staff from the finance, planning and budget department.

Assas commended the support UQU has received from the wise government and the supervision of the Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Issa, confirming there will be a certain mechanism for awarding projects to contractors and following up on execution of current projects. He clarified that the committee is to facilitate decision making especially now that includes all related entities (legal, financial, project management, and planning).

Further, Assas noted that the committee set its priority for furture projects inducing, facilitating central condition stations at Abbideya campus an a number of other projects related to facilitating educational and research environment for both faculty members and students. Later, he gave an account of the committee's missions, including: setting a list for all contracts and tenders related to non-financial programs and assets of projects set to be announced next financial year; marking out a timetable for each tender; identifying beneficiaries of project execution; facilitating mechanisms and procedures for projects execution; following up different contracts and projects execution in line with tenders and procurement regulations; and taking legal actions in case of any negligence in contracts execution.

On his part, the Vice-president, Dr. Yasser bin Soliman Shoushou, explained that the goal of the committee is to study future projects and execute the ones with priority within the next year budget, indicating that a field study is underway to determine a mechanism for executing projects ahead after review of the UQU Supreme Committee of Projects. Finally, he lauded the support and directives of the UQU President, which are to help facilitating educational environment properly to comply with UQU position.
