Dean of Graduate Studies at Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Firaih said that duty martyrs' sons were accepted to the graduate studies program, whereas 11 students were accepted for the academic year 1438/1439 H  and that total number of the lecturers and teaching assistants candidates  from Saudi universities is amounted to 211, whilst number of male and female students accepted for higher diploma is 200 students, MSc 609 students and 206 male and female students for PhD program. 

This came during the annual meeting of the Deanship of Graduate Studies under sponsorship and honorable attendance of UQU President Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas, in the presence of the UQU Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi and the Vice Deans of Graduate Studies. The meeting took place at King Abdul-Aziz Historical Hall in Abdyia Campus.
  

On this occasion, Dr. Al-Firaih reviewed achievements of his deanship during the academic year 1437/1438 h revealing that numbers of transactions referred by the deanship amounted to more than 18 thousands, while those referred to it are amounted to more than 21 thousands . He indicated that the deanship contributed to providing a number of programs for the graduate students to achieve the Kingdom vision 2030 pointing out that work is underway to introduce and update a group of graduate studies programs to bridge the gap between higher education outputs and requirements of the labor market including; MSc programs for Physical Therapy, Clinical Nutrition and Chemistry depending on study courses and the applied research, besides the PhD programs in chemistry, housing, home management, clothing and textile. Also new Higher Diploma programs were introduced in internal design and designs printed in Ads.     

He added that external scholarship students who were accepted for the academic year 1438/1439 H are amounted to 123 students representing 45 countries. He then lauded the support attached to Deanship of Graduate Studies by the UQU President Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq Assas, and the follow up and keenness of UQU Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Thamir Al-Harbi. He also lauded efforts exerted by vice deans and affiliates of the deanship and their contribution to boosting system of services provided for students.

After that, UQU President Dr. Assas addressed the event praising the efforts exerted by the UQU Vice Presidency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and the Deanship of Graduate Studies to serve the university students. He stressed  importance of the deanship role in providing proper atmosphere to enable students continue their education in the graduate studies programs. He also praised steps taken by the deanship and its achievements in this regard.   

Further, He lauded the support the university receives for its different scientific and educational programs from the wise leadership, thus enabling it to undertake its educational mission toward sons of this nation at all  university levels, wishing everyone success.  

At the conclusion of the ceremony, UQU President honored deans of the colleges and deanships and vice deans of graduate studies. He also honored the Dean of Graduate Studies and the Vice Deans and affiliates of the Deanship.
