Participants in the activities of the symposium, organized by the Faculty of Shari’a and Islamic Studies at Umm al-Qura University in cooperation with the General Presidency for the affairs of the Holy Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque on Wednesday 19-07-1437AH, entitled (Holy Mosque: Virtues, Proprieties and Provisions), inaugurated by His Excellency the Director of Umm Al Qura University Dr. Bakri Ibn Ma’touk A’ssas, with the attendance of His Excellency General President of the Holy Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, with the participation of their Excellencies and Eminence senior Ulemas, imams and preachers of the Holy Mosque, discussed contemporary issues and developments, and the related provisions of Sharia and jurisprudence, through four scientific sessions; The first of which was entitled (the Virtues and Proprieties of the Holy mosque). It was chaired by Sheikh Dr. Ali Ibn Abbas al-Hakami, a member of the senior Ulemas committee. Besides, Dr. Talal Abu al-Nour, the general supervisor of the project of veneration of the Holy City talked about the “Importance and Veneration of the Holy Mosque”. the Dean of the College of Da’wa and Fundamentals of Religion at the University, Dr. Muhammad Sa’eed al-Sarhani; His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Khalid Ibn Ali Al-Ghamdi, the imam of the Holy mosque and the faculty member at the College of Da’wa, and Dr. Yousef Ibn Abdullah al-Wabel, the administrative adviser for General Presidency for the affairs of the Holy Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque talked about “The Proprieties followed in the Holy Mosque”.
Then the second session was held under the title “The Provisions related to the Holy Mosque”, chaired by the Dean of the College of Shari’a and Islamic Studies, Dr. Ghazi Ibn Murshid Al – Otaibi. During the second session, three researches were discussed; Dr. Ali al-Hakami talked about “The use of the mobile phone at the Holy Mosque”, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Saleh Ibn Muhammad Al-Talib, imam and preacher of the Holy Mosque talked about “ the first row in the Holy mosque”. The session was concluded by a working paper by Dr. Muhammad Ibn Ahmad al-Saleh, a member of Al-Azhar Islamic Research Academy, and the expert at Islamic Fiqh Academy talked about the jurisprudence of the events of the Holy Mosque (Circumambulation, Sa’y and the Foot prints)
It was followed by the third session entitled "The provisions of the Holy Mosque," chaired by His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Ibn Nasser Al-Khozim, Vice president of the Affairs of the Holy Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque. At the beginning, Dr. Attiya Ibn Mukhtar Attia the faculty member at the Department of Shari’a, College of Shari’a and Fudamentals of Religion at the University of Najran talked about "the effects of crowding for praying at the Holy mosque”. Then, Dr. Abdulrahman Ibn Hussein al-Mojan, faculty member at the Department of Shari’a, College of Shari’a and Islamic Studies at the University of Umm Al-Qura talked about “Incessancy in the Circumambulation: a juristic comparative study”. At the end of the session, Dr. Wael Ibn Muhammad Ibn Rizk Ibn Musa, faculty member at Islamic Studies Centre at the College of Shari’a and Islamic Studies, Umm Al-Qura University, dealt with the “Link between al-Mas’a and the Holy Mosque”.
The fourth session entitled "Architecture and History of the Mosque", and held under the chairmanship of His Excellency General President of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais was concluded. At its beginning, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture Dr. Hamza Ibn Ahmad Ghalman talked about “The Holy Mosque Architecture”. Subsequently, Dr. Atef Ibn Hussein al-Asghar, the Dean of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Researches, tackled “Research Efforts of the Institute of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for Hajj and Umrah Researches”. Dr. Fahd Ibn Atiq al-Maliki, the faculty member at the Department of History, College of Shari’a and Islamic Studies, Umm Al Qura University talked about “The Holy Mosque Platform (8 AH to 1426AH) a cultural civilizational study”. After that, Dr. Amr Ibn Abdulaziz Munir, the faculty member at the Department of History, College of Shari’a and Islamic Studies talked about the "Description of the Holy Mosque in the Eyes of Muslim Travelers”.
The session was concluded by Engineer Sultan Ibn ‘Ati al-Qurashi, director of project management at the General Presidency for the affairs of the Holy Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, who talked about "Holy Mosque architecture in the Saudi era”.
