Umm Al-Qura University hosted the closing ceremony of the Emir of Makkah Award for Holy Qur’an Memorization for the Orphans of the Kingdom organized by the Kafel Foundation for the Care of Orphans. The ceremony was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Prince of Makkah Province, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, in the presence of the Deputy Emirate of Makkah Province, Dr. Mushabbab Al-Qahtani, on behalf of His Highness.
The Deputy Emirate of Makkah Province, Dr. Mushabbab Al-Qahtani, honored the sponsors of the award, the participating societies, and the winners. The children were given prizes worth more than SR. 190 thousand. This took place in the presence of the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Moaddi bin Muhammad Aal Madh-hab, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kafel Foundation, Mr. Abdullah bin Dawud Al-Fayez, and His Eminence the Secretary General of the Foundation, Prof. Abdul-Aziz bin Dawud Al-Fayez.
The Imam and speaker of the Sacred Mosque and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kafel Foundation, Sheikh Salih bin Abdullah bin Humaid, pointed out that the Kafel Foundation is interested in designing quality development, cultural and social programs and activities, and it adopted this competition out of its mission to raise the children on the morals of the Holy Qur’an. He then lauded the keenness attached by the wise leadership to the Holy Qur’an since the era of the late founder (may Allah have mercy on him) to the current era of the Custodian of the Two holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman (may Allah safeguard them).
On his part, the UQU President, Prof. Moaddi bin Muhammad Aal Madh-hab, explained that the university is honored by hosting this ceremony and participating in handing out the awards to the orphans of the homeland in return for their memorization of the Holy Qur’an. He reiterated the keenness of the university to cooperate with the government and private and non-profit sectors regarding anything that serves Islam and the prosperity of the nation, bearing in mind that the university has the honor and advantage of being situated in the neighborhood of the Sacred House of Allah.
It is noteworthy that the Award of the Emir of Makkah for Holy Qur’an Memorization for the Orphans of the Kingdom in its first version for the year 1443 A.H. was implemented with the participation of more than 131 orphans, representing 18 orphan care societies in the Saudi Kingdom.
