The College of Social Sciences is pleased to announce the publication of a paper entitled ‘Style shift in translation: The case of translating Susan Glaspell's Trifles into Arabic’ by Dr. Abbas Brashi, Assistant Professor of Translation at the Department of English. The paper was published in the ISI-indexed journal Translation & Interpreting: The International Journal of Translation and Interpreting Research (July, 2021).
The study examines style shifting in the Arabic translation of Susan Glaspell's play, Trifles by Abbas Brashi (2019). It presents an overview of the play, as well as its importance and relevance to Arab culture. It describes the different varieties of Arabic that exist as well as the one chosen for the translation, namely Modern Standard Arabic.
