The faculty of Pharmacy Umm Al-Qura University offers undergraduate courses that will give you a pharmacy degree together with the skills and knowledge you need for a career in this field.
Our high-quality facilities allow students to conduct research and perform experiments in different pharmaceutical fields.
The college is composed of 5 departments which are Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical chemistry, Pharmacognosy and Clinical Pharmacy. It offers two programs: Bachelor of Pharmacy program (B-Pharm) with five years duration of study (180 hours) and Doctor of Pharmacy program (Pharm-D) with six years duration of study (221 hours).
The male section contains 4 classrooms each accommodating 50 students and a smaller 20-students classroom with round tables used for active learning and group discussions. Each classroom contains a data show and a white board. In addition the male section has six practical labs which are all supported with the required facilities and equipments for the practical work of the students. The college has structured its classrooms and practical labs to be near the staff and administrative offices to facilitate students' communication with teaching and administrative staff members. Students have the chance to participate in several student club and social activities which further enhance students' team working skills.
The college has different units serving the students such as the students' rights and academic mentoring units. These units aim to raise awareness among students of their academic rights as determined by the university and how and where to obtain them.
Modern teaching methods are currently applied including critical thinking, active learning and effective communication that aid in preparing professional pharmacists capable of working in different fields from community pharmacies to hospitals, industry and academics. Students' knowledge is assessed using a variety of methods including practical reports, group work, oral presentations and end-of-semester exams. Our students also gain practical experience in different hospitals through several clinical courses offered at the college which enable them to learn techniques and communication skills through field studies.
The College proudly welcomes you
