Abstract
The study aimed to identify the role of personalized-Control supported by smart technologies on improving the traffic behavior of vehicle drivers in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through three main axes: monitoring accidents and traffic violations, enhancing individual responsibility, and compliance with traffic laws, using the descriptive method with sample of (400) individuals who use smart technologies while driving. The study’s results found that using the mobile phone camera ranked first among the means used to monitor traffic movement while driving, at (66%). The results also showed the role of these technologies to improving unregulated traffic behavior among the study sample while driving at a moderate degree for the entire axis, the most prominent manifestations of this behavior being: using the phone by hand while driving. The results also revealed a high degree of contribution of smart technologies in enhancing drivers’ adherence to traffic laws; the main forms of contribution were: promoting drivers’ culture and responsibility towards other drivers. It was also proven that these technologies have a high degree of contribution in monitoring accidents and traffic violations, the most notable forms of contribution being: recording the time and date of the accident. Their contribution in enhancing individual responsibility among vehicle drivers was also shown to be high, and the main form of contribution was: increasing drivers’ awareness of compliance with traffic laws.
