Abstract
Aim of this study was to identify the societal determinants associated with the reluctance of youth to settle and reside in newly developed urban communities, with New Assiut City in Egypt as a case study. This is a descriptive-analytical study that relied on a comprehensive social survey method targeting young people residing in New Assiut City (specifically in the Social Housing and Youth Housing areas), totaling 500 individuals. A questionnaire was used as the data collection tool. The study concluded that the most significant factors contributing to the youth’s reluctance to settle in New Assiut City and reducing its population appeal and residential migration include: Weak and insufficient transportation and commuting means Inadequate basic services related to citizens’ living needs, Healthcare deficiencies as a critical factor affecting the quality and safety of life, Economic constraints, Shortcomings in general public service
