Abstract
The Objective: The study aimed to explore the phenomenon of divorce in Omani society, focusing on how demographic factors such as age, educational level, and income influence the causes and effects of divorce from the perspective of a sample of divorced women in Oman. Significance: It lies in providing a deeper understanding of the social and economic dynamics that affect the phenomenon of divorce in Omani society, which enables the development of effective strategies to support divorced women and enhance the stability of the Omani family. Method: A quantitative methodology was employed, with data collected through a questionnaire developed after a review of relevant literature. The questionnaire was distributed to a sample of 250 divorced women from various governorates across Oman. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods to determine the impact of demographic variables on the causes and effects of divorce from the perspective of the sample. Results: The study revealed several key findings, including that the most prominent causes of divorce, according to the divorced women, were emotional issues, followed by moral and religious factors than causes related to housing and family. The most significant effects of divorce were found to be educational impacts on children, followed by psychological and social effects on the divorced women. The results also indicated a significant influence of educational level, income, and age on the causes and effects of divorce in various ways. The findings were discussed, and a set of recommendations and proposals were provided to support divorced women and enhance family stability in Omani society.
