Abstract
The current study explored the following question: What legal challenges do Saudi women married to non-Saudis face, and how do they adapt to them? The study employed a case study methodology, with semi-structured interviews as the primary data collection tool, supplemented by document analysis and non-participant observation. The findings revealed that families' legal challenges are rooted in structural barriers, including the consequences of marriages conducted without prior approval from the Ministry of Interior, as well as delays in decision-making processes. The study also found that families adopt both positive and nega-tive coping strategies—positively through acceptance and compliance, and negatively through innovation or withdrawal. Based on the findings, the study recommends requiring women to personally attend and sign the marriage contract at the official marriage office. Finally, further research is recommended to explore how soci-etal norms and legal restrictions influence these families.
