Abstract

The importance of the mosque for Muslims is very great. In the mosque, prayer is performed, the second pillar of Islam. The status of the mosque among Muslims, the large number of visits, and its regularity have made the mosque one of the most important services in the Islamic urban environment. This calls for the spread of this service more intensively in the city, space are short between local mosques. The study tries to shed light on the distribution of mosques in the city of Hail, and the study approached the inferential approach in building hypotheses, and the inductive approach to accept or reject the research hypotheses.

The results of the study revealed that there is a large discrepancy between the districts of Hail city in the number of mosques. The study showed that the number of mosques in the districts of Hail city is more close to the residential communities, in order to achieve the minimum distance traveled to reach the local mosques, as it revealed that the general distribution of the city’s mosques is the convergent pattern heading towards randomness (0.58), while the results of the study show that there is no high equality in the distribution of local mosques according to the area of the district. And that the number of mosques is more in districts with high population density, and the study recommended converting some local mosques into Friday mosques in districts that do not have mosques for congregation, and developing a long-term strategy for the distribution of mosques in the city of Hail, commensurate with the size of the population, its growth rate, and the size of the districts.
