Abstract
Pollution is a global threat that has challenged policymakers, international organizations, and firms to reduce the environmental effects of economic activities. In this context, the UAE paid attention to environmental sustainability issues and translated this interest into the country's vision "of 2030". The national banking sector was at the forefront of sectors that adopted many environmental responsibility practices to support the country's efforts. This study aimed to shed light on the concept of environmental responsibility. The appropriate theoretical approaches were addressed, such as the Stakeholder Theory, and the Environmental Responsibility Model. The study relied on the case study and qualitative approach, as the environmental responsibility practices of Emirates NBD were monitored and analyzed, with the aim of extracting a set of results to develop the reality of sustainable environmental responsibility practices in all sectors. The results showed Emirates NBD's interest in local and international principles concerned with the environment, by applying the concept of sustainable environmental management. The areas of environmental responsibility of the Bank focused on five areas: green economy, green products, rationalization of consumption, waste management, cleanliness, and protection of the environment; Within this framework, several initiatives have been implemented, in addition to its partnerships with other entities.
