General Conditions for Admission to Postgraduate Study Programs

Very Important Notice!

The deanship stresses that the entered data must be valid and correct, otherwise the admission request will be canceled without notification. The admission of all those who had been admitted but with inaccurate information will also be canceled. Moreover, legal measures will be taken against such applicants.

General Conditions for Admission

Article 13 of the Unified Postgraduate Studies Regulations stipulates that the admission conditions are as follows:

1. The applicant must be a Saudi citizen or, if non-Saudi, hold an official post-graduate scholarship.
2. The applicant must have obtained a university degree from a Saudi university or another accredited university.
3. In order to be admitted to the master's stage, the applicant should have completed the university stage with a minimum of a "Very Good" grade. For the PhD program, the applicant should have obtained a grade of not less than "Very Good" in the master's stage. For the diploma program, the applicant should have obtained at least a grade of "Good" in the bachelor's stage.
4. The applicant must be known for good behavior and be medically fit.
5. The applicant must submit two letters of recommendation from current or former professors.
6. The applicant must obtain the approval of their employers, if they are employed.
7. For PhD degrees, a letter of approval must be obtained from the authority that has employed the applicant stating s/he will be available for full-time study.

Special Conditions for Admission

All conditions set by the specialized colleges, including the appropriateness of the applicant's specialization, must be met. Moreover, the applicant must obtain the appropriate score for the General Aptitude Test for university students: (http://www.qiyas.sa/Pages/default.aspx) with 5-year validity, as follows:

1. A score of 65 as a minimum when applying for Higher Diploma programs.
2. A score of 70 as a minimum when applying for master's programs.
3. A score of 75 as a minimum when applying for PhD programs.

Moreover, some programs require that the applicant has to be successful in the entrance exam determined by the relevant department. In addition, the applicant has to pass one of the three types of the TOEFL English test: CBT, IBT, or PBT (http://www.ets.org/toefl) with 2-year validity,  or other equivalent tests, such as ILETS, https: (https://www.britishcouncil.sa) with 2-year validity.
