Definition of External Scholarships

External scholarships are designated for students from outside the Kingdom. These scholarships are linked with the Kingdom’s Islamic, Arab, and cultural relations.

Conditions for Acceptance of External Scholarships

  1. The student must hold a General Secondary Certificate or its equivalent in his/her country.

  2. The student’s age must not be less than 17 years and not more than 25 years for undergraduate studies, 30 years for Master’s degree, and 35 years for PhD.

  3. No more than five years should have passed since obtaining the secondary school certificate.

  4. The government of the applicant’s country must approve studying in the Kingdom (if such approval is required for Saudi students as well).

  5. The student must not already be holding another scholarship from one of the educational institutions in the Kingdom.

  6. Certificates and documents must be authenticated by the designated authorities as determined by the university.

  7. The student must provide a certificate of good conduct from the security authorities in his/her country.

  8. The student must not have been dismissed from any educational institution in the Kingdom.

  9. The student must pass the medical examination determined by the regulations and instructions.

  10. The university may stipulate that the applicant be recommended by certain authorities, institutions, or individuals.

Regulations for External Scholarships

  • The laws of the Kingdom strictly prohibit extremism and terrorism in all forms, and students must comply.

  • Scholarship students are subject to residency regulations in the Kingdom.

  • The student remains under the sponsorship of the university throughout the scholarship period.

  • The student must adhere to the university’s regulations and the instructions in force.

  • The travel document (passport) must allow the student to return to the country of issuance without restrictions.

  • The student may not transfer from one university to another.

  • Scholarship students are prohibited from working in companies, institutions, or individuals during the study period.

 

Regulations for Ending the External Scholarship

  • The scholarship student must leave the Kingdom after completing his/her studies within a period not exceeding three months from the end date.

  • If the program duration has expired, the scholarship may not be extended by more than half its original period.

  • A student wishing to pursue postgraduate studies must apply for a new scholarship.

  • The scholarship student is not permitted to transfer to another educational institution inside the Kingdom.
