The President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Moaddi bin Muhammad Aal Madh-hab, received the Malaysian Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Dhul-Kifl Mohammad Al-Bakri, the Malaysian Ambassador to the Saudi Kingdom, Datu Abdul-Razak Abdul-Wahab, and their accompanying delegation. The event was attended by vice presidents of the university, the Dean of the Institute of Arabic Language for Non-Native Speakers, and the Dean of the College of Da`wah and Fundamentals of Religion.

The UQU President welcomed the two guests and the delegation that accompanied them on their visit to Umm Al-Qura University during the meeting which discussed aspects of cooperation between the two sides regarding the scholarship students. He stated that Umm Al-Qura University is one of the oldest universities and is considered the first seed of formal university education at the local and regional levels when the Founder of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, King Abdulaziz Al Saud (may Allah bestow His mercy on him), issued his noble decree to establish the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies.

He continued, “The College of Shari`ah was the foundation from which sprouted the colleges specializing in Islamic sciences, the Arabic language, medicine, science, and humanities.” He added that such an expansion would not have been possible without the support attached by the wise leadership to the educational process, the academic staff members, and the administrative system, leading the university to currently host more than 100 thousand students from the youth of this country and the youth of the Islamic nation from around the world.

On his part, the Malaysian Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Dhul-Kifl Mohammad Al-Bakri, lauded the education, care and services provided for the Malaysian students at Umm Al-Qura University. He then expressed his thanks and appreciation to the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for the keenness and attention paid to the Malaysian students in all the Saudi universities.
