Wadi Makkah and its Startups Attract Attentions of the IECHE Visitors in Riyadh

Wadi Makkah pavilion at the 7th International Exhibition and Conference on Higher Education (IECHE) in Riyadh has seen an overwhelming turnout of those interested in establishing startups including;  innovators and inventors  to learn about the programs of Wadi Makkah and its affiliated startups. 


Participation of Wadi Makkah at IECHE included an overview about the company, its programs, activities and services provided for the inventors, innovators and the owners of the startups. In addition to participation of 13 startups in the technical, medical, electronic, statistical and crowd management fields.  


Meanwhile, the UQU Vice President for Academic Development and Community Service, who serves also as the acting UQU Vice President for Business and Innovation and the Chairman of Board of Directors of Wadi Makkah Company Dr. Hani bin Osman Ghazi stressed that participation of Wadi Makkah and its affiliated companies in the IECHE was intended to brief the visitors of the exhibition about the role undertaken by the company via its startups besides its programs provided for the male and female students to support their ideas and innovations through business accelerators, in addition to market access and creation of startups programs. He added that during the coming period, Wadi Makkah will embark on various programs and plans which will contribute to serve entrepreneurs and ignite their ideas and innovations in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030 and the National transformation program 2020. Concluding his speech, he lauded the support and attention of UQU President and his lasting keenness to support university male and female innovators and upgrade innovation system in the university.     


For his part, CEO of Waddi Makkah Dr. Faisal Al-Alaf said the company endeavors to provide a number of programs in the innovation and creativity fields and turn these innovative ideas into economically feasible products by providing resources, technical experience and offices. In addition, it also offers business accelerator program which transfers innovation product into startups, besides providing consultancy services, training, guidance funding to access the market as well as the investment in the startups to achieve development and sustainability by linking them through a network of individual investors and the venture capital. He added that Wadi Makkah startups showcased their experiments which attracted large numbers of the exhibition's visitors. 


At the conclusion, he commended support and concern of UQU President Dr. Bakri Assas and UQU Vice President for Academic Development Dr. Hani Ghazi for their support provided for the university talents and for creating the outstanding atmosphere of creativity.
