They energetically rushed towards the holy sites tirelessly offering help to the pilgrims and chanting, "We are the servants of the sacred sanctuary," while feeling the joy and happiness of winning the honor of serving the pilgrims and shouldering such a great responsibility. The fruit of their efforts was represented in the approval of the Ministry of Interior to award the Hajj medal to 297 male and female UQU volunteers for the year 1440 A.H.

The Supervisor of the Hajj Volunteer Program, Dr. Ruwaida Bakri, said the College of Medicine strives to develop its volunteer program to keep pace with the requirements of the national transformation plan in the framework of providing health services to the visitors for Hajj and Umrah. The college also aims at entering into partnerships and coordinating with the relevant entities to ensure the quality and continuity of work. That is to be added to supporting scientific research in the field of creating a healthy environment, improving the level of services provided for the pilgrims in the future, and reducing various health risks.

She pointed out that the college participated in the last five Hajj and Umrah seasons with more than 3 thousand male and female volunteers, who provided medical services in the government health sectors in Makkah and the holy sites. They also supported the charity associations in providing healthcare and support services, including: guidance, counseling, and translation, besides launching a number of awareness campaigns in the pilgrims residences and camps.

On his part, the Acting Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Ayman Muminah, said the college administration harnesses its material and human potentials to boost the program objectives and qualify the medical cadres of the various health colleges inside and outside the university. This is in order for them to work in the service of the guests of the Sacred Mosque, prepare leaders and provide physical training for them in disaster management, and offering emergency health care, in line with the aspirations for volunteering specified by the Saudi Vision 2030.

Dr. Muminah expressed his pride in the efforts exerted by the male and female volunteers of the university and in them winning the Hajj medal for the two successive years of 1439 A.H. and 1440 A.H. together with the Civil Defense Directorate, under the direction of the Minister of Interior, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif Al-Saud, in return for their voluntary participation. The Ministry of Health also honored the participants in the Hajj Volunteer Program for their effective efforts in providing healthcare services for the pilgrims in the 1440 A.H. Hajj season.
