The Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Introduces the UQU Students to Fab Way

The Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship provided the students of Umm Al-Qura University with the opportunity to learn about the mechanisms of manufacturing and innovation in the Mobile Fabrication Laboratory (Fab Way) of the institute. The institute shall receive the students on Sunday and Monday, coinciding with the Global Entrepreneurship Week, at the university's headquarters, in both the male and female sections, in order to offer them realistic experiences that promote creativity and innovation.

The Dean of the Institute, Dr. Muwaffaq Urijah, stressed the importance of this step taken by the institute to encourage university students to be innovative and creative, and to give them confidence in showing their ideas and turning them into pioneering projects. He pointed out that the institute provides an opportunity to participate for those of all ages who are interested in modern manufacturing and programming techniques, and familiarize them with the mobile fabrication lab that includes laptop devices designated for designing and programming, 3D printing devices with FDM technology, DLP technology, in addition to precision engines, an Arduino educational kit, a programmable robotic arm, and programmable drones.

Dr. Uraijah said that the institute, in conjunction with the Global Entrepreneurship Week, organized a competition for university female students in support of their creativity and for the adoption of their ideas. The institute also provided training courses and workshops for male and female students in different locations, using fully equipped facilities that help them overcome obstacles and enable them to transform their ideas into prototypes. He explained that the provided mobile laboratory is fully equipped and is divided into several units, including a 3D printer unit, electronics and artificial intelligence unit, design and programming unit, and a manufacturing unit.
