The University Council Holds Its Second Session for the Academic Year 1442 A.H.

On behalf of His Excellency the Minister of Education and Head of the UQU Council, Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad bin Hamad Aal Al-Sheikh, the University President, Prof. Moaddi bin Muhammad Aal Madh-hab, headed the second session of the University Council for the academic year 1442 A.H. via video conferencing.

Prof. Moaddi Al Madh-hab extended sincere thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness, Prince Muhammad bin Salman (may Allah safeguard them), for the issuance of the royal approval of his appointment as President of Umm Al-Qura University, asking Allah to grant everyone success and guidance.

He said, "It pleases me to open the second virtual session of the University Council for the academic year 1442 A.H. I would like to welcome all the attendees from the members of the University Council and the Secretary General of the Council of Universities Affairs, Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Saleh. I would also like to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to all the members whose term of membership in the council has expired for the work they have performed."

At the end of the session, the Secretary General and member of the University Council, Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi, stated that the honorable University Council discussed a number of topics on its agenda at its second session for the academic year 1442 A.H. This is in addition to studying and discussing many academic, educational and administrative topics related to various scientific and educational aspects. Moreover, he confirmed that the council had taken appropriate decisions concerning these topics.

According to His Excellency Dr. Thamir's statement, the topics listed on the agenda of the session are as follows:

  • A request to approve the granting of bachelor's and diploma degrees to students who are expected to graduate by the end of the first semester of the academic year 1442 A.H. from the UQU colleges and institutes in Makkah and its branches in the governorates of Jamoum, Al-Leith, Adham and Al-Qunfudhah, as well as the Institute of Teaching Arabic for Non-Native Speakers.
  • A request to approve the renewal of the membership of a number of academic staff members to the Council of the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies for a period of two years.
  • A request for the approval of adopting a Memorandum of Understanding between the University and the Makkah Health Care Cluster, according to the formula provided by the College of Nursing.
  • A request to approve the adoption of annual reports on the university and its activities for the years (1439/1440 A.H.) and (1440/1441 A.H.), to prepare them for presentation to the Council of Universities Affairs.
