His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, in his office today, received the annual report of the preventive programs at the Narcotics Control Administration in the Sacred City of Makkah for the year 1441 A.H. This report was handed over to His Excellency by the Director of the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, Major Abdul-Salam Al-Zahrani, in the presence of the Head of the Permanent Executive Committee on Smoking and Narcotics Harm Awareness at the University, Dr. Mishaal Al-Sulami.
Major Al-Zahrani pointed out that the General Directorate sought to promote its educative role and carry out its duty in protecting the country and its promising generations by carrying out educative programs and exhibitions in collaboration with the Department of Mosques, Da`wah and Guidance, dedicating Friday sermons to the harms of drugs and the ways to prevent such harm. Moreover, the General Directorate printed more than 100,000 educative brochures and organized several athletic activities, as well as holding educative initiatives on international days.
On his part, His Excellency the President of the University expressed his thanks to the General Directorate of Narcotics Control for its remarkable role in educating the members of the community and protecting the future of its children against the harms of drugs, in addition to its tireless efforts to bring up a physically sound and intellectually aware generation. This can be achieved by establishing qualitative partnerships with different governmental bodies and sectors to confront the dangers of addiction and spread health awareness among the members of the community.
