Under the generous patronage of Dr. Ahmad bin Muhammad Eshi (Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences), Dr. Maher Al-Andijani (Vice Dean of Hospital Affairs) and Dr. Haifaa bint Hussein Hijazi (Head of the Clinical Nutrition Department), a scientific day was launched by the elite of the Clinical Nutrition Department for its female fourth-year students. The event was held on Thursday, 19th Jumada I 1438H (16th February 2017) at Al Noor Specialist Hospital in Makkah. It was attended by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hussein Osfur, Dr. Firas Sultan Al-Ezzah, Dr. Muhammad Abdulmon’em Al- Madbouli, Dr. As-Sayyed Hamed Ali Bakr and Dr. Abdulilah Sami Jazar. Moreover, it was followed up by Dr. Hassan bin Mazhar Bukhari and Dr. Sama’ Sa’ed As-Su’adaa. Such scientific event was held with the aim of introducing the female students to and providing them with hospital training skills as an objective of the Clinical Nutrition Department. The event included:
- All the hospital training of fourth-year female Clinical Nutrition students, training mechanism, method to deal with hospital staff and patients, and the way to examine patients’ files, taking into account preservation of the patients’ data and conditions information in complete secrecy. Moreover, the event involved how to fill in the training manual and apply what had been studied in the specialty at the same department and college in order to allow students to exercise the practical side to prepare them to be therapeutic feeding specialists. All this was illustrated in a lecture by Dr. As-Sayyed Hamed Ali Bakr, Assistant Professor at the Department.
- All the hospital training of internship (i.e. the final year of study at the Department), training mechanism at such stage, the time required to obtain a certificate of training, as well as the mechanism for the distribution of students in Makkah, Jeddah and Taif hospitals, health centers and private hospitals. The event also included the beginning and end of the internship year, and the regulations for holidays and switching between training hospitals. This was explained in a lecture by Dr. Firas Sultan Al-Ezzah, Associate Professor at the Department.
On the other hand, the introductory day was commended by the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, the Vice Dean of Hospital Affairs, and the Head of the Clinical Nutrition Department. They extended deep thanks to Al Noor Specialist Hospital for the generous hosting and welcome, and wished to icrease cooperation between Al Noor Specialist Hospital and the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Umm Al-Qura University.
