The Board of Directors of the General Authority for Statistics, under the chairmanship of the Acting Minister of Economic and Planning, Mr. Muhammad Al-Jadaan, and with the membership of a number of ministers, issued a decision appointing Dr. Akram Nour, the Head of the Planning and Decision Support Unit at the UQU Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research, as Vice President for Statistical Works at the General Authority for Statistics, from 1 May, 2020 A.C. Dr. Akram is an academic staff member specialized in engineering, with practical experience in the field of statistics in different sectors.
The Authority supports the economy in the Saudi Kingdom by launching a number of initiatives and specialized programs based on developmental streams for various fields related to the National Transformation Program and the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. The Authority endeavors to form information wealth to be used by decision makers in the public and private sectors, and to be an outstanding statistical reference in supporting economic and social development. This can be implemented by using scientific and practical procedures that ensure the statistical work is carried out with high quality, in accordance with the latest international standards and practices.
