Umm Al-Qura University Dental Team Promotes Oral Health Programs for School Students

During the implementation of the campaign in partnership with the General Administration of Education in Makkah Region, the medical team of the “Makkah's Smile” Initiative at Umm Al-Qura University recommend that educational classes should be offered particularly to school students to promote the culture of oral hygiene, and prevent tooth decay.

The initiative's team also explained, during the meeting with the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, at his office, and in the presence of the Director of the Education Department in Makkah Region, Ahmad Al-Zaidi, that the campaign organized by the College of Dentistry and School Health Affairs at the Education Department in Makkah managed to reach 2,300 students in 26 schools, thanks to the mobile dental clinics.

The UQU medical team at the mobile dental clinics recommended to include health counseling in the weekly period schedule, and to intensify training sessions on how to prevent oral and dental diseases for the health workers in schools. This is in addition to educating families on how to play their awareness role.

The two fully equipped mobile dental clinics contain medical equipment, desks, the latest digital radiography equipment, ventilation and trash disposal methods that are safe and environmentally friendly, and sterilization equipment.
