As part of the plans of Umm Al-Qura University to activate the awareness-raising campaign on the dangers of the new Coronavirus and ways to prevent it, the College of Medicine, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Health Affairs in the Holy Capital, Makkah, has organized a campaign entitled "Infection Control and Prevention Methods" for a number of public education schools in Makkah, in order to spread awareness of the importance of preventive measures to avoid infection with the disease.

The Vice Dean of the College for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Asim Al-Shanbari, stated that the campaign aims to open the door for medical students to educate school employees about infection prevention methods, guiding them to the correct ways to wash and sterilize hands, as it is the main cause of infection transmission between members of society. This is based on the scientific workshops offered to the campaign participants, in cooperation with the Assistant Professor at the College, Dr. Muhammad Qarout.

His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad Al Al-Sheikh, recently directed the departments of education, universities and vocational training, to update their contingency plans to increase awareness of the risks of Coronavirus, and organize educational campaigns and programs for damage and infection prevention methods. This falls within the framework of the participation of educational authorities in government making efforts to address emergency situations.
