Dr. Abdulaziz R. Sorouji, UQU Vice President for Educational affairs, has honored 79 scouts with the Hajj Medal for 1435-Hajj season. The medal is presented by the Ministry of Interior (MOI) for scouts. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Abdullah S. al-Fahad, head of the Saudi Scouts Society, Dr. Amr T. al-Saqaf, Dean of Student Affairs, as well as vice-deans. The ceremony was held at King Abdulaziz Secondary Auditorium in Abdiyah Campus.
Following a brief Quranic recitation, Dr. al-Saqqaf delivered an address on this occasion. He pointed out that this honoring is a response to the strenuous efforts that scouts exerted in serving pilgrims. According to Dr. al-Saqqaf, they played a pivotal role in helping pilgrims perform the Hajj rites. Meanwhile, he commended the gracious support of the UQU President, Dr. Bakri M. Assas, and his unabated interest in engaging students in activities aiming at serving pilgrims. He extended thanks to Dr. Sorouji for his unstinging follow-up of the deanship's activities, praising, meanwhile, students' efforts.
For his part, the Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Sorouji, stated that this day is dedicated to scouts who contributed to bringing success to the Hajj season, as a tribute to their colossal efforts and appreciated awareness-raising services. To serve pilgrims, he added, is a great honor to everybody. He lauded the UQU President's support for non-curricular activities. And finally, he thanked honored scouts for their appreciated efforts in serving the guests of Allah.
