Emir of Makkah Launches Digital Photo Atlas of Makkah & Holy Places

Prince Khaled Al Faisal, Emir of Makkah and advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has given the green light for publishing a digital edition of the "Photo Atlas of Makkah and Holy Places" by the Umm Al-Qura University (UQU).

President of the University Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas described the decision to publish the digital copy as a mark for His Highness Emir of Makkah's keen attention for the development of Makkah and the holy places out of a strong belief in the importance of sacred sites.

Dr. Assas said the book provides a chronological narration of the history of Makkah and the holy places. It narrates the development and changes took place in the area with captioned images and photos that illustrate the history of construction from the sixth Hijri century to the end of the first half of the 15th century.

The co-author and member of the UQU Academic Staff Dr. Meraj Mirza gave a presentation on the book and up to 400 to images depicting the history of Makkah. Also, he gave comments on the documentary images and illustration that introduce the digital content in 325 pages.

At the end of the meeting, Emir of Makkah received a copy of the Atlas from Dr. Assas, Vice-President for Business & Innovation Dr. Nabil bin Abdul Qader Koshak, and the authors. Also, the Emir receivd a copy of the book "Al Mea'd المعاد" which is written by UQU President.
