Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Advisor of the President of the University and the Deputy Chairman of Wadi Makkah for Technology, Dr. Hani Uthman Ghazi, participated in the activities of the Mass Gatherings Medicine Fourth Conference, which has been organized by the Ministry of Health for the period from 10 to 13 December, 2019 A.C. This conference is being held in Jeddah, under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
During the conference, Dr. Hani Ghazi offered a detailed presentation about the role of higher education in finding scientific solutions for crowd management and human gatherings. He gave an overview about the role of the university in offering research studies and voluntary work in mass gatherings medicine, and the role of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research in finding smart solutions for crowd management and human gatherings at the Sacred Sites through scientific studies that are successively applied.
Dr. Hani Ghazi stressed that Umm Al-Qura University plays a leading and prominent role through the qualitative research studies that it offers in the services related to mass gatherings medicine and voluntary work. He indicated the creation of a new course that enjoins upon medical stream students to participate in voluntary work during the Hajj and Umrah seasons.
The conference, in which thirty countries participated, covered several topics related to experiences and involvement in crowd management, such as systems development, financing mechanisms, health awareness, education, health security, electronic health, care standards in mass gatherings medicine, studies related to these aspects, and emergency and risk management for crowds during Hajj and Umrah.
