UQU President Discusses Emerging Companies with Delegation from UAE

On Thursday, Rabee' I 30, 1438H, the UQU President and CEO of Makkah TechnoValley (MTV), Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, received at his office in Al-Abdiyah Campus the Executive Director of Energy World Group, Sultan al-Naeemi, who visited the TechnoValley Emerging Companies Center, to consider the promising investment opportunities awaiting emerging IT companies. The meeting was attended by Dr. Nabil A. Koshek, UQU Vice Dean for Entrepreneurship and Knowledge Creativity, Dr. Usama R. al-Amri, executive director of Makkah TechnoValley, Dr. Saleh Ba-Salamah, executive director of IT, Dr. Anas Ba-Salamah, director of Makkah TechnoValley IT Innovation, and Dr. Majed Abdullah, Director of Public Relations and Information in Makkah TechnoValley, in addition to founders of some emerging companies.

At the beginning of the meeting, the UQU President welcomed Mr. Sultan al-Naeemi and the delegation accompanying him. They exchanged cordial talks about the good relations binding the two countries (KSA and UAE) to one another, under their wise leaderships. They reviewed also the developmental strides taken by UQU, as represented by the Vice Presidency for Entrepreneurship and Knowledge Creativity, to activate its academic, social and research role, in a manner commensurate to the Saudi Vision 2030, and the national transformation to knowledge-based economy. He pointed out that Makkah TechnoValley IT Company is deemed to be one of the fruits of that quantum leap led by the Emerging Companies Center. He made clear that the university seeks to achieve excellence and leadership in the targeted by developmental, academic and research areas, under the patronage of the Rulers, and the generous support provided by the Ministry of Education with its high-profile academic competencies.

For his part, Al-Naeemi lauded the paradigm shift that the university has undergone in its pursuit to stimulate creativity and entrepreneurship. This comes within the framework of the generous support received by the university from the KSA government. Noteworthy, Mr. Sultan al-Naeemi, Executive Director of Energy World Group, and the delegation accompanying him, had visited TechnoValley Center of Emerging companies, where they met with Dr. Nabil Koshek, Vice Executive Director of TechnoValley IT Company, and Dr. Usama al-Amri, Executive Director of TechnoValley IT Company. The meeting was attended by Dr. Saleh Ba-Salamah, Executive Director of IT, Dr. Anas Ba-Salamah, Director of TechnoValley Center for IT Innovation, and Dr. Majed Abdullah, Director of MTV Public Relations and Information, in addition to founders of some emerging companies. They exchanged talks about the promising opportunities of emerging IT companies.

It followed that the delegation had a tour through the MTV Center for Emerging Companies, where they listened to an exhaustive presentation about MTV emerging companies and the IT products they offer. Those companies include: Navibees, Averos, Softcare, Tawseel, Lucidya, BioKubes, and Breez.

For their part, investors expressed their happiness with the innovative IT products offered by MTV emerging companies, and the strides they've taken in a relatively short period of time. "It's such a pride to see national IT products labeled: 'Made in Mecca'," they said.

Dr. Nabil Koshek, for his part, expressed his happiness with this visit from a constellation of high-profile IT investors; which indicates that MTV emerging companies have drawn investors' attention. Meanwhile, he welcomed the investors willing to invest in MTV emerging companies. Concluding, Dr. Koshek thanked the UQU President and CEO of Makkah TechnoValley Company, Dr. Bakri M. Assas for his unstinting support for MTV emerging companies.
