UQU VP: 2017 Budget is Sign for Economic Progress

Vice President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) Dr. Yasser bin Sulleiman Shosho asserted that however that Saudi Arabia is facing challenges in oil market but its budget 2017 was a sign and good omen for economic progress.

The budget, which has been adopted during a cabinet's extraordinary meeting, reflects an insightful understanding for the Saudi Vision 2030 and National Transformation Program 2020, Dr. Shosho said. The Vice President added that giving the green light for the Citizens Account Program mirrored the government's keenness on helping the middle class to overcome the international economic changes.

In the same context, he extended thanks to King Salman, the Crown Prince and the Vice Crown Prince for supporting education by biggest budgetary allocation this year. He said the decision proves leadership's care for improving knowledge, cultural, social and economic levels to put education in the country amongst the best in the world.

The new budget would pivotally affect efforts being exerted to boost scientific research and knowledge economy that is built on patents and knowledge advisory, he said.

He further added: "The UQU Budget Committee, chaired by President Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas with the membership of VPs, would distribute the allocated funds among different departments and deanships to carry out its practical, educational, administrative and research program in order to serve its students and employees under the directives of the Saudi leaders and according to the Saudi Vision 2030."

He wished luck and success on way to achieve the goals set for this budget for the purpose of making the UQU one of the most prominent organizations in the world.
