The College of Computing at Al-Qunfudhah, Department of Computer Science, obtained the American International Accreditation (ABET). This was a result of continuous cooperation between the Deanship of Information Technology and the Deanship of E-Learning, the efforts of the staff and faculty, and the continuous support of His Excellency the President, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, the Vice President for Development, Dr. Hani Ghazi, and the Dean of the Deanship of University Development, Dr. Muhammad Thabet.
The Dean of the College of Computing, Dr. Jabir Al-Zahrani, noted that this achievement came as a result of the support and solidarity among all members of the university, who follow a strategy aiming for all university programs to obtain accreditation, internationally or nationally.
On his part, University Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani Ghazi, considered this a step towards all the university programs obtaining academic accreditation, and that the University Vice Presidency for Development always works to motivate all colleges, departments and deanships to provide the required standards for accreditation. He pointed out that the university colleges obtaining academic accreditation has become one of the required standards to develop the university's educational environment.
ABET is an accreditation body recognized by colleges and universities around the world in the fields of applied sciences, computing, engineering and technology. ABET accreditation confirms that the department complies with the quality standards of education agreed upon by the relevant expertise. Accreditation is important for students to help them choose the right specialization, and helps employers and companies select and recruit graduates.
