His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University Inaugurates 'Designing, Manufacturing and Modeling Labs'

His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, on Tuesday morning, inaugurated the system for the designing, manufacturing and modeling laboratories at the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Umm Al-Qura University. This took place in the presence of His Excellency the Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani Ghazi, and the Dean of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Muwaffaq Urijah.

The system contains a central lab and another movable lab that moves around the different branches of the university. It is used as a connecting link between the system and the university community, with the aim of increasing awareness about modeling and manufacturing. The system aims at increasing students' knowledge and skills through holding about 40 programs and training courses during the academic year, and increasing the number of students participating in these programs to 800 students. Moreover, it aims to provide a professional level of qualification and training in various and modern fields that enrich the innovation and entrepreneurship fields in the university.

The Vice President of Umm Al-Qura University for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani bin Uthman Ghazi, underlined that those two labs are the first of the group of five manufacturing and modeling labs that that will be established later on. They aim at enabling university students to innovate, manufacture and make models, turning their desire for innovation and creative imagination into concrete reality with the latest technologies and well-prepared labs. These labs purpose to turn their projects into primary products, under the umbrella of the educational and qualifying system, to prepare them for entrepreneurship.

In the same context, the Dean of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Muwaffaq Urijah, stated that the institute won the "My Factory" initiative, which is one of the initiatives of the Saudi vision 2030. He highlighted the determination of the institute to build a qualifying system that contains a center for training and qualifying the students in different specializations in the university on designing, manufacturing and modeling, as well as establishing an e-platform to support this initiative.
