The Grand Mosque Symposium Discusses 15 Research Papers on its Codes and Virtues

Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the College of Shari’a and Islamic Studies, is to hold a symposium titled “The Virtues and Codes of the Grand Mosque” in collaboration with the General Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques. The symposium will be on Wednesday, 20 Rajab 1437 H. at King Abdelaziz Historical Hall in Abdiya campus. Participants will discuss 15 research papers regarding the contemporary jurisprudence cases related to the Grand Mosque according to the opinions of Islamic scholars. 

Dr. Ghazi bin Mershed Al-Otaibi, the Dean of the College of Shari’a and Islamic Studies, pointed out that the symposium comes within the framework of the College’s interest in contemporary issues that are related to the Muslim community and its religious values.

Participants will discuss four aspects, namely, (the virtues of the Grand Mosque, the contemporary jurisprudence issues related to the Grand Mosque, the scholarly efforts in the Grand Mosque and the Grand Mosque architecture). These aspects will be tackled over four sessions through 15 research papers on the codes that should be observed by Muslims in the most virtuous place on Earth. 

Dr. Al-Otaibi delivered thanks to the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa for approving of the symposium and the support he gave for its success. He also thanked Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas for constantly supporting and personally following up the College activities and aspirations. The efforts made by the General President of the Two Holy Mosques Affairs, Dr. Abdelrahman bin Abdelaziz Al-Sudais were also commended by Dr. Al-Otaibi who asked Allah that the symposium achieves its objectives.
