While pursuing postgraduate studies, the UQU dental scholarship student at King's College London, Dr. Reham Al-Haratani, won the Scientific Research Award at the Annual Meeting of the British Society of Pediatric Dentistry (BSPD), which was held during the period 10-13 September of the current year (2019), at Birmingham. The research discussed the influence of children's mental health problems on their oral health.
His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, congratulated Dr. Reham Al-Haratani on this outstanding achievement and scientific excellence. Equally important, such a success demonstrates the extent to which the university's scholarship students have aligned with the global level. He attributed this accomplishment first to the Allah's Help, and secondly to the unlimited support received by Umm Al-Qura University from the wise leadership represented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz (may Allah protect them), and His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad Al Al-Sheikh. He highlighted their keenness to provide the UQU students with the highest and best scholarship opportunities in the finest and most prestigious international universities.
On her part, Dr. Reham Al-Haratani expressed her appreciation for the congratulations she received from His Excellency the UQU President, adding that this would give her great motivation to achieve more excellence and progress in her scientific career. She hoped that after her return to the UQU College of Dentistry, she would pass on her scientific and practical expertise in the field of scientific research, Allah willing, especially in the field of pediatric dentistry.
According to the official website of the annual meeting of the British Society for Pediatric Dentistry (BSPD), the UQU dental scholarship student, Dr. Reham Al-Haratani, received the Clinical Governance Award in 2016. It is noteworthy that this healthcare association encourages creating innovative initiatives in oral health, and advancing high quality children's oral health research, clinical reviews, and evidence-based practices. Moreover, it offers seven categories of awards during its annual meeting.
