President of Umm Al Qura University (UQU) Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas on Monday held a meeting on Monday (28/2/1438H) with the Team of the Accreditation Board for Engineers and Technology (ABET) currently visiting the university.
During the visit, ABET representatives have discussed the international accreditation requirements for the College of Computer in Al-Qunfudhah and Computer Department in Jamoum University College.
The meeting was attended by Vice President for Academic Development and Community Services Dr. Hany bin Othman bin Yassin Ghazi, Dean of University Development and Quality Dr. Mohamed bin Ja'far Thabet, Dean of Jamoum University College Dr. Faisal Baghdadi and Head of Computer Department in Jamoum University College Dr. Yusuf Otibie.
During the meeting, Dr. Assas welcomed the team and reviewed academic, research and social achievements made by the university in addition to its centers and institutes.
He asserted that the university, such as other Saudi universities, receive keen support from the Kingdom's leaders and endeavors to get accreditation for all its college programs.
He listened to the team's comments on the measures taken during the three-day visit to Jamoum University College and statuses at labs, study halls and supplies available at the college in addition to the outcomes of a meeting with the staff members. They met with graduates and discussed academic accreditation criteria.
In the same context, Dr. Ghazi said the university has plans of coordination with the international accreditation agencies to take the necessary measures to accredit its programs of study.
According to the VP, the plans would be carried out under a time frame. He added the ABET's team will start another visit to the College of Computer in Al-Qunfudah to review academic accreditation requirements.
