At his office in Al-Abdiyyah University City, His Excellency Prof. Abdullah Bafail, President of Umm Al-Qura University, received the international accreditation certificate conferred upon the Department of Islamic Architecture for a period of six years by ASIIN (a federal non-profit German accreditation organization). This was part of the visit of the Dean of the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ahmadi, to His Excellency UQU president, accompanied by the Vice Dean of the University for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani bin Uthman Ghazi, the Dean of the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality, Dr. Muhammad Thabit, the vice deans of the deanship, the advisors, the vice deans of the College of Engineering, and the head of the Department of Islamic Architecture.
The Vice Dean of the University for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani bin Uthman Ghazi, congratulated the College of Engineering represented in the Department of Islamic Architecture for obtaining the international academic accreditation, pointing out that this achievement comes within the developmental steps that the UQU has worked to achieve to increase the academic and research level of all the UQU colleges and departments. This was achieved in accordance with the criteria that conform to the developmental programs in the most prestigious international universities. He also expressed appreciation for the efforts of His Excellency the Dean of the College of Engineering and the work team who contributed to the fulfillment of this achievement, and praised the efforts of the Dean of the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality, Dr. Muhammad Thabit.
In turn, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ahmadi, affirmed that the department's attainment of international accreditation is part of the college's strategic plan to obtain academic accreditation for all the departments of the college. He commended the attention given by His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, and the follow-up of the Vice Dean of the University for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani bin Uthman Ghazi, on all matters that develop the educational programs and activities at the college.
From his part, His Excellency the UQU President congratulated the department for obtaining international academic accreditation. He pointed out that this was a result of the support given to the university by the wise leadership, May Allah support them, which contributed to the creation of the educational environment and the academic programs that conform to the international requirements for academic accreditation, and are also in line with Saudi Vision 2030. He also expressed appreciation for the constant follow-up by His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad Al Al-Sheikh, of the programs and activities implemented by UQU, which had a positive impact on upgrading the educational, pedagogical, and research streams.
It is worth mentioning that ASIIN is a federal non-profit German accreditation organization specialized in conferring academic accreditation certificates for Bachelor of Science (BSc.) and Postgraduate Studies programs in the natural sciences specialization, mathematics, engineering, and computers. The organization has extensive experience in the accreditation of academic programs. It has many scientists, experts, and specialists in the field of academic accreditation and quality both inside and outside Germany and its standards of academic accreditation conform to the European standards for higher education.
